Used Jewelry Is a Much Better Deal
Retail jewelry stores are dime a dozen these days. They entice you with advertisements with sparkly diamonds and shop windows peppered with gems of all colors, it can be hard to resist the lure of a brand new piece of jewelry. In fact, the idea of buying used jewelry is often overlooked in today’s society. It is much more alluring to buy used once you consider the facts.
Some people only want to buy new jewelry, and I get it. However, next time you have the urge to buy a new ring, necklace, or another jeweled item, think about buying used! We have plenty of good reasons for you – in fact, you can find eight of them below!
It Holds Its Value
Unlike brand new diamond rings and necklaces, used jewelry actually retains its value. Once you buy a piece of new jewelry from a big brand name store, it instantly loses value– much like a new car! The reason that used jewelry hold more value is that these pieces have no inflated retail price when you buy them! Our prices are based on the fair market value of the stones and precious metal.
If you buy a ring from a chain jeweler today and try to resell it in a few years, it won’t be worth a fraction of what you paid. Don’t believe me? Check this out. If you choose as one of our vintage or antique pieces, you will be getting the best deal out there! We’re extremely happy to offer all of the jewelry that we do, at a price that cannot be beat.
You Get More for Your Money
Rather than saving up to buy that really expensive necklace or ring from a brand name store, chances are you can get several pieces of quality, used jewelry for the same price. A great piece of jewelry doesn’t have to break the bank! (We also offer 90-day layaway with 20% down and no fees!)
Or why not get twice the ring for your money? If you have $5000 to spend on an engagement ring, you could get a decent looking ring retail, there’s no arguing that. But wouldn’t you rather have a ring that retailed for $10,000 or more, for only $5000? That sounds like an absolute steal to me. Now I know what you’re thinking, I don’t want a ring that has wear and damage. Let’s talk about that.
The Quality Is Often as Good as New
People often associate the word “used” with something that’s worn-out, dirty, you know what I mean. That’s not the case with our jewelry. When you buy a used piece of jewelry from us, you can bet that it is top quality. (We melt all the damaged goods)
We make sure each piece is thoroughly cleaned and polished. They shine as brightly as possible! We take care to display it nicely and price it fairly. Our store is kept tidy and we’re always happy to help our customers. Used pieces are often kept in excellent condition by their owners, sometimes these pieces are like new when we take them in. Let’s break the stigma against “used” jewelry!
Used Jewelry Is More Sustainable
Do you ever think about what goes into each piece of jewelry that you buy? Not only does it take impressive skill and labor, but a variety of natural resources go into jewelry making as well. You may not realize it, but there can be issues with how precious metals are mined in the first place.
Extraction techniques for both precious gems and metals can include stripping the surface soil and using chemicals which can cause soil erosion, the formation of sinkholes, loss of biodiversity and contamination of soil and both ground and surface water. Guess what? Used jewelry doesn’t require any extraction! By buying used, you’re helping to create a more sustainable earth and that’s incredibly important!
There’s a Story Behind Each Piece
One of the best parts of buying a used piece of jewelry is the story behind it! Of course, you may not always know where the piece originated from or who had it last, but you can always use your imagination! Whether it’s from the Georgian Era, the Victorian Era, or the Art Deco Era, you can bet that there’s a special story behind the piece. Did this piece belong to Lady Mary? Did she live in a chateau in France? (You never know!)
In our store, you can find pieces from the Art Deco, Art Nouveau, Retro, Edwardian, Georgian, and Victorian era’s. Some of our pieces are truly one-of-a-kind custom made.
There is a Greater Selection of Unique Pieces
Sure, you can stop into any chain jewelry store today and select a modern piece. But I can bet you that it won’t be one-of-a-kind! When you decide to visit our pawn shop for your jewelry, you’ll find that almost every piece is truly unique. Our collection contains pieces as far back as the early 1800s. These are rings, necklaces, earrings, etc. that were crafted many, many years ago– not manufactured in bulk to be advertised to the masses. Of course, we do have many modern and vintage pieces as well.
From vintage estate pieces to Victorian brooches and mourning jewelry, our pawn shop is full of incredibly unique gems. Plus, folks are always bringing in new pieces, so the selection is always changing! You’ll never find the same piece twice– so if you fall in love with something, be sure to buy it before someone else snatches it! We buy jewelry every day!
You will Enjoy a More Personalized Experience
The beauty of shopping for used jewelry is that you can enjoy a more personalized experience. We don’t rely on jewelry sales alone to keep the doors open. You can relax knowing you won’t be subject to any sales pitches or crazy fine print. Typically, folks selling vintage, antique, and estate jewels want to see their pieces go to a good home and they will ensure the buying experience is a pleasant one.
At World Pawn Exchange, we love working with customers to help them find the very best used piece of jewelry. We take care to listen to your thoughts and concerns along the way. There is no hidden corporate agenda with our jewelry staff!
Supports Local Economy and Small Businesses
One of the greatest perks of buying used jewelry is that you’ll be supporting your local economy and small business owners! Me and my family specifically! I’m very appreciative to our community, thanks, guys! The beauty of a used piece of jewelry is that you’re not only supporting a small business, but you’re building on the piece’s individual story, and you’re getting a bargain – all while supporting the environment as well! If that’s not a win, I don’t know what is!
In the consumerist era we live in today, it’s important to recognize all the time and work that small business owners put into their shops. While big brand-name jewelry stores are a dime a dozen, you should take the time to seek out your local jeweler next time you’re looking for a cool piece to wear or give as a gift!
At World Pawn Exchange, you’ll find a large selection of beautiful, used jewelry. Visit us at our brick-and-mortar shop right here in North Bend Oregon or you can also check out our Etsy shop where you can peruse more of our unique selection.

Wow, I’m definitely going to check out used jewelry first now! I didn’t realize the value of new jewelry dropped like that.
Yes, it definitely drops. Some stores have higher margins than others. A lot of independent jewelers will be able to give you a fair price new, but buying from a pawn shop is the best deal. You can buy a ring, have it refurbished to new, and easily be at half or less.
I have gotten some great deals on used jewelry. Pawn shops are the cheapest way to get good deals. Great read!
